With the GGJ 2021 theme "Lost and Found", our team came up with the idea of a lost teddy bear returning home to its' owner.
My role on the team was the Menu and Menu UI artist, which included background images for the Main Menu, Credits menu, Game Over Screen, and End Menu, as well as UI and animations for those menus.
Playing on the theme of toys and children, we decided to make the game into a storybook. The menus turned into book covers, and the credits page reimagined the idea of the "This Book belongs to" pages of a child's book. The opening narrative of the game was also told with a page-flip animation to really emphasize the storybook concept.
Additionally, many children get creative with their things, so the menu UI was inspired by things like crayons and stickers- things that Waddles' owner would have used to decorate their book.
